ANOTHER FAKE RANSOM NOTE IN NANCY GUTHRIE CASE

The sheriff investigating Today coanchor Savannah Guthrie's missing mom just shut down yet another suspicious demand letter.

The search for Nancy Guthrie, mom of Today coanchor Savannah Guthrie, just hit another dead end. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos dismissed the latest ransom note making waves as fake, according to Us Weekly and E! Online. The email, which TMZ reported receiving from someone claiming to know who took Nancy, appears to be another hoax in a frustratingly long line of them.

"I think the FBI has done a number of arrests for false or fake ransom notes," Nanos told Arizona radio during a Friday appearance, signaling that bogus demands are unfortunately par for the course in high-profile missing-person cases like this one.

The Pima County Sheriff's office continues its investigation into Nancy's disappearance, but these fake leads aren't helping the cause. Here's hoping the real answers come through soon.
